Cebu’s Best Lechon opens first branch in Manila

Meat Concepts Corporation, affiliated with the operators of Ogawa Traditional Japanese Restaurant, KPub BBQ, Thai BBQ, OPPA Chicken, Modern China & Tony Roma’s, has just taken a bold step in expanding its portfolio by acquiring Rico’s Lechon of Cebu.

Who better to herald the arrival of Cebu’s lechon pride than the Cebuanos who grew up celebrating every milestone with crackling lechon skin and succulent no-dip-required lechon meat on their dining tables. Rico’s Lechon pays homage to where it all started through a Cebuanos’ Day, happening on July 29, Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM in Fort Strip BGC. It will be a one-day event dedicated to guests born in Cebu, currently residing in Manila.

Those who are interested to join the celebration can register online at from July 18, 2018, Wednesday at 8:00 PM until July 25, 2018, Wednesday, 8:00 PM. Registration is free as long as slots are still available. Successful registrants will be notified through email with their time slot, and will be asked to bring the print out on the 29th, together with a copy of birth certificate or any ID showing Cebu lineage with present address in Manila. During the celebration, each guest will be treated to a 50-minute free buffet and will receive 250 grams of Rico’s Lechon.

Rico’s Lechon has been consistently recognized as the “Best Cebu Lechon” by different award-giving bodies and is the only local food concept to have won the Asia-Pacific Stevie International Business Award held in Tokyo, Japan last 2017. Recently, they earned a Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor for consistently receiving great reviews on the travel site.

The expansion is meant to complement its current roster of restaurant brands in the Philippines. Rico’s Lechon is one of the most popular brands in Cebu and is famed for having developed and first introduced the distinctive Spicy Cebu Lechon.

“We are excited with the acquisition as it is our first Filipino brand. In a sense it complements our international brand offerings,” said Meat Concepts Corp. President George Pua. His passion for bringing the brand to more Filipinos has been the forefront of his decision. “I’ve been a patron of Rico’s Lechon for years and personally believe it’s the best. We want to be able to have Cebuanos take pride in sharing this with the rest of the country, and eventually the world,” Pua added. The Rico’s Lechon brand has been a mainstay in Cebu for 20 years, an institution for Cebuanos and visitors from Manila and all over the world.

Watch out for the opening of our Manila stores: Fort Strip BGC to open on August 3, 2018, and for the remaining months of the year, branches will be open in Tiendesitas Pasig City, Top of the Glo in Glorietta Makati City, and Ayala Malls Cloverleaf and U.P. Town Center Quezon City.
