Lechon, summer a perfect match

Look at it this way: Eat much, swim much. There’s no better season in a year to indulge in a plateful of tender roasted suckling pig, if one is also thinking about the amount of physical activity he gets during the summer break.

Rico’s Lechon has just recently launched the opening of its new restaurant in Cebu in Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan. The brand new food place, more specifically at Mactan Promenade, will not only be just a short drive from the Mactan Cebu International Airport for guests to bring with them lechon as snacks or pasalubong for loved ones outside Cebu, but is now also an accessible spot for beach lovers to dine in at Mactan. Now, everyone can enjoy some lechon while getting a tan under the summer sun.

But a great location isn’t always everything. For this third branch, Rico’s lechon has also launched its new menu offerings for all its branches. On top of its signature lechon, the restaurants will be serving these new and tasty dishes such as special danggit, lechon salpicao, and its own versions of dinuguan, sisig, bicol express and kinilaw.

To complement these delectable dishes, Rico’s has also added new desserts and signature drinks on the menu such as sweets like pandan, tapioca, budbud ug tsokolate and Oreo mango float; and drinks such as Cucumansi Quencher, calamansi soda and green mango cooler. The latter has the sour kick of green mangos but the healthy and thirst quenching effect of a freezing drink—what better way to hydrate to relieve the hotness of the summer weather.

Part of the company’s re-branding is not only the menu but also the appearance of the new restaurant with a theme “Old Cebu with a Twist” designed by interior designer Shiela Solon. The company also provides original restaurant music for diners, having partnered with the group ArtistKo who will be providing its restaurants with new Cebuano music. In line with supporting Cebuano music, the company’s theme song, composed by Famas award-winning songwriter Lorenzo “Insoy” Niñal, encapsulates the joy of togetherness, happiness and the excitement of eating. It’s entitled Da Best Gyud.

In addition, the staff of Rico’s Lechon will be wearing new colorful attire designed by Cebuano designer Dino Lloren. Rico’s Lechon Mactan Promenade is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for restaurant dining and 8 to 10 p.m. for take out orders.
